A member of the House of Representatives, Kafilat Ogbara, has stirred reactions after refusing to shake hands with her All Progressives Congress rival, Dele Oshinowo, at a public event in Lagos.
The incident occurred during the inaugural Seyi Tinubu Colloquium, where Oshinowo, a former chairman of the Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area, approached the lawmaker and extended his hand in greeting.
However, Ogbara remained seated and turned away from him, telling him she would not shake his hand.
In a video of the encounter circulating online, the lawmaker was heard saying, “Welldone, how are you? I cannot shake you.”
Oshinowo reacted animatedly before walking away from the lawmaker.
The encounter comes amid political tensions following the APC primary for Kosofe Federal Constituency, where Oshinowo defeated Ogbara to emerge as the party’s candidate for the 2027 general election.
Ogbara currently represents the constituency in the House of Representatives, making the primary outcome a significant development in the political contest for the seat.
The two politicians have also been linked to previous disagreements, including disputes in 2025 over the demolition of the Owode-Onirin market.
Monday’s incident has drawn attention to the strained relationship between the politicians as preparations for the 2027 general election gather momentum.
