A labourer, Mutari Muhammadu was on Tuesday arraigned in a Kado Grade I Area Court, Abuja for allegedly stabbing a man with a dagger.
Muhammadu, who resides in Suleja, Niger is charged with causing grievous hurt.
The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Stanley Nwafoaku, told the court that the matter was reported at the Life Camp Police Station by the complainant, Abubakar Haliru of Harare Street, Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, on April 2.
Nwafoaku said that the complainant on the same date went to the police station to report about a threat to his life from one Awal Jimeta.
The prosecutor added that immediately the complainant left the station after filing his statement, he was accosted on Bissau Street, Wuse Zone 3, Abuja by the defendant.
He further stated that the defendant was furious because the complainant reported his boss, Jimeta to the police.
The prosecutor in addition submitted that the defendant suddenly brought out a dagger and stabbed him on his arm.
According to Nwafoaku, the complainant had to be rushed to the hospital due to the volume of blood that was gushing out of the inflicted injury.
He said that the complainant had to spend the sum of N34,600 to treat the stab wounds.
The offence, he said, contravened the provision of sections 335 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The judge, Malam Muhammed Wakili, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000 and a surety in like sum.
He directed that the surety must provide a passport photograph, any valid means of identification and a BVN printout from his bank.
Wakili also adjourned the matter until June 26, for hearing (NAN)
