Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Kahmenei has issued a stern warning that US bases could be attacked again should there be any aggression from the United States in future.
Kahmenei said this while congratulating the Iranian armed forces on the success recorded during the ‘12-day war’ with Israel.
In his first speech after the ceasefire announcement, Iran’s supreme leader said US attacks have failed to undermine Iran’s nuclear programme.
He’s saying that Iran is not going to give up on its nuclear activities and is going to continue enriching uranium.
He also says that claims by the US officials, particularly Trump, are exaggerated.
We heard from US officials saying the attacks dismantled, obliterated and shattered the Iranian nuclear programme, but the supreme leader stated that this is not the reality on the ground.
The only international body that can really confirm what has happened with Iran’s nuclear programme, whether it was destroyed or largely damaged, is the International Atomic Energy Agency.
According to Aljazeera, President Donald Trump says US and Iran officials will talk next week, as Iran’s Guardian Council suspends cooperation with UN’s IAEA.
Meanwhile, the Iranian parliament on Wednesday, passed a bill banning cooperation with the world’s nuclear watchdog.
Iran’s Health Ministry says at least 627 people were killed and more than 4,870 injured during Israel’s 12 days of attacks on the country.
At least, no fewer than 28 people were killed in Iranian strikes on Israel.
