Tragedy unfolded on Monday at Ilara-Mokin Junction in Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State, as a woman, Oluwasola Victoria Adebayo, reportedly collapsed and died while waiting for her child writing the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
It was gathered that the deceased had accompanied her child to the examination venue and was waiting nearby when she suddenly fell ill shortly after arriving at the junction.
Eyewitnesses said she complained of weakness before slumping, causing panic among residents and passersby.
Efforts by sympathisers to revive her were unsuccessful, as she was confirmed dead at the scene.
Her child was said to be inside the examination hall at the time of the incident, unaware of the development.
A resident, who identified the deceased as “Mommy Ayo,” said she had earlier mentioned plans to escort her daughter to the centre that morning.
The incident drew a crowd, with many expressing shock and grief over the sudden loss.
The cause of her death could not be immediately determined as of the time of filing this report.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said the police had contacted the family of the deceased.
“The Command notes with concern the reported sudden death of a woman in Ilara-Mokin. The family has been reached, and following due process, the remains were released to Mr Apapa Olamilekan, who identified himself as her son,” he said.
Jimoh added that the command condoled with the bereaved family and urged residents to remain calm.
