Nigerian comedian and actor, Julius Agwu, has revealed that he developed sexual dysfunction following a brain surgery he underwent in the United States in 2015.
Agwu made the disclosure while appearing on the Beer Parlour Talk Show, where he recounted the health crisis that led to the surgery and the lasting effects of the condition on his life.
The comedian said his sexual function was affected after doctors operated on his brain following the discovery of three tumours, one of which he described as being about the size of a golf ball.
Responding to a question about whether the illness and subsequent treatment affected other parts of his body, Agwu explained that the sexual problem began after the operation.
Other participants on the programme discussed the possible relationship between nerves and the area of the brain involved in the surgery as Agwu recounted some of the physical changes he experienced afterwards.
Beyond his health struggles, the comedian spoke about his contribution to the Nigerian entertainment industry, particularly his role in popularising music comedy.
Agwu, who has combined music, comedy and acting throughout his career, said his ability to fuse music with humour helped distinguish his performances in the industry.
However, the comedian became emotional while recalling the difficult period, saying some people he regarded as friends abandoned him when he was battling the health crisis.
He expressed disappointment over the way some of his associates distanced themselves from him during the period, but said he had chosen to leave the matter in God’s hands.
