JAMB shifts 2027 UTME first session arrival time to 7:30am

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has adjusted the reporting and examination times for candidates scheduled to sit the first session of the 2027 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

Under the new arrangement, candidates writing the first session are expected to arrive at their designated Computer-Based Test centres by 7:30am, instead of the previously scheduled 6:30am.

The examination will begin at 8:30am and end at 10:30am.

JAMB announced the adjustment in its weekly bulletin released in Abuja, explaining that the decision was aimed at addressing safety and logistical concerns associated with candidates travelling to examination centres in the early hours.

The board noted that some candidates, particularly those travelling long distances to their assigned centres, would have had to leave their homes before dawn to meet the former 6:30am reporting time.

According to JAMB, the decision followed deliberations at its 2026 Management and Information Technology Retreat held in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, between September 6 and 11.

The retreat considered concerns raised by members of the public over the implications of requiring candidates to report at examination centres so early.

JAMB said the revised schedule was intended to improve the safety and convenience of candidates travelling to their centres.

The board added that moving the reporting time forward could also reduce cases of absenteeism arising from difficulties associated with early-morning movement.

The adjustment applies to the first session of the 2027 UTME, with candidates expected to take note of the new 7:30am arrival time and the 8:30am commencement of the examination.
