Nigerian businessman Ikechukwu Ogbonna, popularly known as IVD, has been formally discharged and acquitted of all charges related to the death of his late wife, Bimbo Ogbonna.
The ruling, handed down on Monday, December 15, 2025, concluded a long-standing legal battle that spanned several years following allegations from Bimbo’s family, who had accused IVD of causing her death.
IVD’s partner, self-styled relationship expert Blessing CEO, shared the news on Instagram, celebrating the court victory and urging her followers to leave toxic relationships.

Bimbo Ogbonna died in October 2022 after sustaining serious injuries in a fire at the couple’s Lagos residence, an incident that had been linked to claims of domestic violence.
In March 2023, IVD was arraigned by the Lagos State Government on charges of involuntary manslaughter but was granted bail shortly thereafter. He was later re-arrested on August 1, 2025, while travelling to Qatar ahead of his wedding to Blessing CEO.
Prompt News reports the court’s decision now clears IVD of all allegations related to Bimbo’s death, officially closing one of the most closely followed domestic violence cases in recent Nigerian legal history, though questions surrounding the fire that led to her death remain.
