Reality TV star and former BBNaija winner Ijeoma Josephine Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has set social media abuzz after revealing in a viral video that she intends to become a “polygamous woman” if Nigerian marriage laws allowed it.
In a clip shared on her Instagram page, Phyna discussed her views on Nigeria’s marriage system, arguing that women should have the same marital freedoms as men.
She questioned why men can legally marry multiple wives while women are restricted to just one husband.
Phyna suggested that the law should be amended to allow women to marry more than one man, insisting that such a change would promote equal rights in marriage.
Using herself as an example, she said she would marry up to five men if permitted, ensuring that each husband would be treated equally and enjoy the same lifestyle.
Referencing practices in other countries, including India, Phyna encouraged Nigerian women to unite in advocating for changes to marital laws. She described herself as ready to embrace polygamy if the legal framework allowed it.

“See, the only thing I want now is that they should just change the law. I go marry like five men, you dey whine? I go buy the same clothes for all of them, the five of them. I’m going to be a polygamous woman. Then we go come buy Sprinter. Instead of Sienna, we’ll go buy a Sprinter,” she said.
Prompt News reports her comments have since generated a mix of reactions online, with some praising her boldness and others questioning the practicality of her plans.
