Ajax coach, Maurice Steijn has revealed he advised Calvin Bassey to seek a move away from the club.
Bassey was a subject of interest from Brighton & Hove Albion and Fulham.
Fulham however struck an agreement with Ajax for the defender’s transfer on Saturday.
The Whites will pay €21m including add-ons for the player.
Steijn claimed he persuaded Bassey to consider joining the London club after he initially turned down their interest. READ ALSO:

“I told Calvin Bassey it would be better to leave Ajax,” the Ajax coach told Telegraaf.
“Also because of the money. When he leaves — we can strengthen the squad properly. I have told him this honestly.”
The 23-year-old is now expected to agree personal terms and sign the contract after undergoing a routine medical.
