Tiwa Savage has opened up about the challenges she faced while recording her R.E.D. album, revealing how pregnancy changed her vocal range and influenced the project’s direction.
During a chat on Afrobeats Intelligence, the celebrated singer recalled being heavily pregnant throughout the recording process, which made it emotionally and physically demanding.
“I was pregnant when I recorded R.E.D. I would be in the studio crying with my big belly. It was a struggle to record the album,” she revealed.

She explained that the changes in her body during pregnancy forced her to tweak the musical arrangement of some tracks.
“I changed the key of some of the songs in the album because being pregnant affected how I could hit some notes,” she said.
Tiwa also spoke about the support she received from her Mavin Records team, being the first artist in the label to become a mother.
“I was the first person to have a baby in Mavin, so whenever they notice my energy is going down, Jazzy will tell them to get me my cravings which are eggs and bread,” she added.
