Gunmen reportedly attacked members of the Nigeria Democratic Congress during a grassroots mobilisation meeting in Obuoffia Ward, Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The incident occurred at about 3:40pm on Saturday, September 12, 2026, during a voter sensitisation meeting organised by the party.
One person was reportedly shot when the assailants opened fire at the gathering, sending party members and other attendees scrambling for safety.
A video from the incident showed participants seated at the meeting venue shortly before gunshots rang out.
The footage also captured the moment those attending the meeting fled in different directions following the attack.
The circumstances surrounding the incident, including the identity and motive of the gunmen, were not immediately known.
The condition of the person reportedly shot was also unclear as of the time of filing this report.

Authorities have yet to provide further details on the attack or confirm whether any arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
