Member, House of Representatives and Chairman House Committee on Sports, Godfrey Gaiya on Monday paid a visit to the Golden Eaglets camp in Calabar, during which he doled out the sum of two hundred and fifty thousand naira to the team.
Gaiya, was in Calabar to watch the Super Eagles beat Malawi 2-0 in the FIFA World Cup qualifier over the weekend.
However, he decided to stay over to watch the Eaglets play against Amakson football academy on Sunday after which he visited their camp to witness firsthand the welfare of the players.
His words, “I am happy that I have finally had the time to visit you and I am really impressed with how quiet and peaceful your camping environment is. Nigeria Football Federation and Cross Rivers State Government have really done well to provide you with this camping site.
“We, in the House of Representatives have been monitoring you and we are happy that you have been doing your best because you are the future of Nigeria football”.
Gaiya said he will not run away from his role as father to the boys hence he made a personally donation of cash to the team, urging the boys to make discipline their watchword.
Gaiya thanked the coaching crew for a job well done so far and informed them that they will impress it on other Government Agencies to give the team the needed support.
