Afrobeat singer and instrumentalist Femi Kuti and multiple award-winning singer, 9ice are poised to thrill guests, as film makers and stars across Africa gather at the Balmoral Convention Centre, of Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, tonight for the 20th edition of the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA).
The Chief Operating Officer of AMAA, Mr Tony Anih, who disclosed this also listed the likes of Yinka Davies, Adeena from Ghana and a gifted guitarist from Ghana, Naird as among the music stars that will wow the audience at the award show.
Activities marking this year’s AMAA commenced last Friday with the launch of the second coffee table book, held at the Marriott Hotel in Ikeja.
It was followed by the AMAA Africa Night of Legends, held yesterday at the Amore Garden in Lekki phase I, Lagos.
According to AMAA’s technical director, Mr Kingsley James, the awards show will be a night to remember as they are working round the clock to ensure that this year’s edition will not only be special but it will be memorable like the previous editions.
“We have an impeccable and African line up that would wow all attendees. The show will be hosted by Nigeria’s Segun Arinze and Ghana’s Joselyn Dumas. The combination of the two movie stars, as anchors of the evening will spice up the awards show, with the curvy actress doing what she knows how to do best as well as Arinze.
“For musical performances, the cast will be led by the legendary Femi Kuti and ‘Gongo Aso’ star, 9ice. Also performing at the show are Yinka Davies, Narh Tettey, Bedwei Kwaku and Adina Thembi. DJ Kenchello while the Ebony band will also be on the band stand to thrill attendees to a memorable night.
“Also expected to grace the show include Ghana’s Lydia Forson and Jackie Appiah, Kenya’s Kenneth Ambani, and Burkina Faso’s Charles Koutou, Chinedu Ikeduze a.k.a Aki, Micheal Majid, Osita Iheme a/k/a Pawpaw, Adjetey Anna, Morris Sam, and Zuby Micheals among others” said James.
