Newly elected executive board of Federal Capital Territory Football Association, FCT. FA, chaired by Mohammed Mouktar Adam on Wednesday, held its inaugural meeting where he highlighted infrastructure, competitions and human capital development as three major cardinal point of the new administration.
Speaking to the media after the inaugural meeting, Mouktar emphasised that the board will take sensible steps to curtail the proliferation of football academies in the territory which has become a cash cow for some people who are genuinely not interested in the development the round leather game.
He also said the executive committee will pay a visit to the six area councils to access the level of football development and meet with the critical stakeholders on the way forward towards developing the game at the grassroots.
“like I always said our focus is grassroot football by so doing we are giving the less privileged players opportunity to showcase their talents. We will regulate the academies with a sense of measure not stringent because in a way they are also helping to identify and develop talents at the grassroots.
“Scouting in the FCT will equally be controlled as some are using it to defraud parents and their wards in terms of finding clubs abroad. I am happy that NFF is working on regulation to control academies and scouting process. I am happy that our league has taken shape and rated the best in the country. Our focus now is to go on sponsorship drive in order to raise money for our programmes.” Mouktar stated. READ ALSO:

The FCT FA Boss commended the electoral committee for the unbiased election conducted on June 17, 2023 in Bwari that ushered in the new board. He added “I must say that our election has become a roll model and so far adjudged the best in the country. Even our parent body NFF has written a commendation letter to the association. No single petition or appeal before during and after the election.”
The inaugural meeting was attended by Mohammed Mouktar Adam Chairman, Coach Samuel Abimbola, Ngozi Ezeh, Barrister Babatunde, Pat Ajoma, Patrick Bassey, Ajilore and association secretary Ilerika.
