Two goals from Maria Møller Thomsen and
Olivia Mattsson helped Växjö DFF to beat Bergdalens IK 2-0 at Borås Arena in the final match of the Elitetta, the 1st Division of the Sweden women’s football league on
Saturday, October 22.
As exclusively reported on Saturday by Prompt News Online, (Nigeria’s authoritative online newspapers), this victory ensured that Växjö DFF emerged as the Champions of Sweden’s 1st Division League as the winner of Elitettan with a total of 62 points after 24 matches plus 62 goals difference during the incredible season.
Also, Nigerian-born Evelyn Ijeh, daughter of former Nigerian International striker Peter Ijeh, emerged Växjö DFF’s top-scorer with 19 goals in 23 league appearances.
The 21 year-old whose goals helped her team to return to the elite division is closely followed by Mattis Strömgren, 24 who scored 11 goals in 20 appearances while Hadda Stokki 20, scored 9 goals in 21 appearances.
Meanwhile, speaking to Prompt News Online from his base in Sweden on his team’s away victory over Bergdalens IK at Borås Arena yesterday, Växjö DFF Sporting Director, Dennis Poppelryd, said his glad that his club has achieved its set objective of returning to the Sweden Women Premier League.
