Edo Queens FC of Benin have qualified for the quarter-finals of the ongoing Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament (BOWFT), topping Group B with six points.
The Benin ladies defeated Royal Queens FC of Warri by a lone goal in one of the day 2 matches decided at the Western Boys High School mini stadium, Benin.
Yemisi Samuel’s strike in the 81st minute was enough to put the game beyond the Warri girls, booking a place for the Benin ladies in the last eight matches of the event.
The Benin side consolidated on their opening day victory against the Royaltoms FC of Lagos to amass six maximum points in the group of three.
In Group C, the match between Naija Ratels FC of Abuja and Fortress Ladies of Benin at the University of Benin Sports Complex, ended in 2 – 0 in favour of Abuja giants.
Motunrayo Ezekiel of Naija Ratels opened scoring in the 20th minute, while Hope Emmanuel added the second goal in the 64th minute to seal the victory that earned the club the Group C leaders with 3 points.
Earlier in the day, FC Robo Queens locked horns with Nasarawa Amazons in Group A with the amazons triumphed with a goal by Dooshima Tarnum in the 86th minute.
Delta Queens also defeated Heartland Queens by 2-0 in a Group D match played at the Western Boys High School stadium. (NAN)
