Super Falcons defender Oluwatosin Demehin has sealed a move to Portuguese giants Benfica, Prompt News Online reports.
The Nigeria international signed a three-year deal with the six-time Portuguese champions after bringing her spell with Turkish club Galatasaray to an end.
Demehin, 24, is looking forward to the challenge of representing Benfica and believes the move will help her take her game to another level.
“Benfica is the best club in Portugal and one of the best clubs in the world. Therefore, I know that being here, I can improve my performance,” she told BTV.
The centre-back revealed that she also consulted her Super Falcons teammate Christy Ucheibe, who previously had a spell with Benfica, before completing the transfer.
“Before coming here, I spoke with her during the national team training camp. She told me many nice things about the club,” Demehin explained.
The defender described herself as a player who places strong emphasis on commitment and professionalism.
“I would describe myself as hardworking, disciplined and determined,” she added.
Demehin started her senior career in the Nigeria Women’s Football League with Sunshine Queens before later joining Rivers Angels.
Her impressive displays in the domestic league earned her a move to French side Stade de Reims in 2022, marking the beginning of her European adventure.
She moved to Galatasaray two years later and featured regularly for the Istanbul club before deciding to continue her career in Portugal.
Demehin will now aim to make a strong impression at Benfica as she begins the latest chapter of her career.
