Afrobeats superstar Davido has addressed critics who often ridicule him for enjoying a life of luxury, particularly for his regular use of private jets linked to his wealthy family background.
The singer, whose father is billionaire businessman Adedeji Adeleke, reacted after social media users mocked him for frequently showcasing his family’s private aircraft. Responding on his X account, Davido made it clear that his access to such luxury is something he was born into, not borrowed.

“This free jet wey I dey fly all around the world dey really pain una. I’m sorry it’s my birth right. In my next life, I go come back as vulcaniser. Ma binu,” he wrote.
In the same post, he aimed a humorous jab at those who attempt to downplay his success by tying it solely to his father’s fortune. His comment about coming back as a vulcaniser in another life was laced with sarcasm, meant to highlight how people seem uncomfortable with his privileged background.
Davido has addressed similar backlash in the past. He once noted that some people in the music space dislike him simply because he comes from a wealthy home. According to him, regardless of the financial support he has, his achievements in the industry are a result of hard work and consistency over the years.
The singer, who has sold out global arenas and delivered multiple chart-topping hits, continues to embrace his identity and the life he was born into—despite ongoing criticism from some quarters.
