            Davido Hit With ₦1bn Demand As Sophia Momodu’s Lawyer Alleges Harassment

            A Lagos-based law firm, Punuka Attorneys & Solicitors, has formally notified music star Davido, born David Adedeji Adeleke, of its intention to sue him over alleged harassment, threats, cyberbullying and defamation directed at one of its partners, Ebelechukwu Enedah.

            The pre-action notice, dated February 24, 2026, was issued on the instructions of Mrs Enedah and addressed to the singer. It was signed by Decency Nkume, an Associate, and Nnamdi Oragwu, a Partner at the firm.

            Part of the letter read: “We are Counsel to Mrs Ebelechukwu Egeonu Enedah (hereinafter referred to as ‘Our Client’), on whose unequivocal instruction, we notify you of her intention to commence legal action against you.”

            According to the firm, the disagreement originated during proceedings in Suit No: LD/1587PMC/2024, David Adeleke v. Sophia Momodu, heard at the Lagos State High Court on February 12, 2026. Mrs Enedah represented Sophia Momodu in the matter.

            The lawyers alleged that Adeleke acted in a confrontational and verbally abusive manner in court, to the extent that intervention was required.

            “Your conduct deteriorated to such a degree that physical restraint became necessary to prevent further disruption to the proceedings,” the firm claimed.

            It further stated that the court directed the singer to apologise openly, which he allegedly refused to do.

            “The Honourable Court directed you to apologise to Our Client in open court for your conduct, which directive you disobeyed,” the letter added.

            Punuka Attorneys also accused Adeleke and social media accounts allegedly linked to him of making online posts that exposed Mrs Enedah to harassment and threats.

            Among the statements attributed to him were: “I disgraced you in the courtroom… I was teaching you your work, you couldn’t even take it… You are a wicked human being, UR THE WORST LAWYER EVER! I BEAT YOU IN COURT!”

            Condemning the remarks, the firm said, “To publicly brand a lawyer of her standing as ‘THE WORST LAWYER EVER’ is not the expression of grievance. It is a deliberate and malicious act of reputational destruction.”

            It added that the impact of the posts was immediate.

            “The consequences were swift and severe. Our Client was immediately subjected to a torrent of abusive text messages, threatening telephone calls, and explicit threats to her safety and the safety of her family,” the letter stated.

            The firm insisted that lawyers must be allowed to perform their professional responsibilities without intimidation, especially in cases involving the custody and welfare of a child.

            Among its demands are the immediate withdrawal of the alleged defamatory statements and a public apology.

            “You are hereby required to issue a clear and unequivocal public statement withdrawing the defamatory statements and offering an unreserved apology to Our Client,” it said.

            The firm also stated that Mrs Enedah is seeking ₦1 billion in damages for the alleged harassment, defamation and emotional distress. It warned that if the demands are not met within seven days, it will proceed to file a suit at the Lagos High Court.

            Prompt News reports the dispute is linked to the long-running custody and child support case between Davido and Sophia Momodu, which has attracted widespread public attention. As of press time, the singer had not issued any response to the allegations or the legal notice.
