A national convention of the Zenith Labour Party was thrown into disarray in Abuja on Saturday after delegates arrived at their designated venue only to discover that a wedding reception was already underway at the same location.
The incident occurred at Chelsea Hotel in Abuja’s Central Business District, where party members and delegates had assembled for the convention expected to bring together stakeholders from across the country.
Eyewitnesses said confusion erupted when delegates reached the venue and found wedding guests occupying the event hall scheduled for the political gathering.
According to a witness, Mohammed Abbas, the unexpected development left delegates stranded outside the premises as organisers worked to resolve the situation.
The convention was reportedly put on hold, with party members waiting for the conclusion of the wedding reception before any official proceedings could commence.
The mix-up sparked tension between some delegates and wedding attendees, creating a chaotic atmosphere around the venue.
