A notorious bandit kingpin, Kachalla Auwalu, linked to the Dogo Gide network, has been killed during a violent clash between rival criminal factions in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
An operational update obtained on Sunday indicated that the incident occurred amid an internal power struggle among armed groups operating within the forested axis, highlighting deepening divisions within terror networks in the North-West.
Sources said no fewer than 12 bandits were neutralised during the confrontation.
The Nigerian Army confirmed it was closely monitoring developments in the area, describing the infighting as a potential setback for the criminal groups.
Meanwhile, troops under Operation Fansan Yamma in Zamfara State reportedly repelled an attack on Gidan Daji community in Maru Local Government Area, forcing the assailants to retreat.
Military authorities disclosed that pursuit operations had been launched to track down the fleeing suspects, as part of intensified efforts to dismantle terror cells and restore stability across affected communities.

The Army added that sustained offensives were ongoing across the region, targeting key strongholds of armed groups blamed for persistent attacks on rural populations.
