Super Eagles head coach Éric Chelle has handed late invitations to Genk full-back Christian Akpan,and Banik Ostrava ace Abdullahi Bewene for his team’s upcoming friendlies against Poland, and Portugal, Prompt News Online reports.
Akpan recently featured for Genk in a UEFA Europa League playoffs.
The 21-year-old was a regular for Genk’s second team this season.
Bewene earned his invitation after an impressive season with Baník Ostrava in Czech Fortuna Chance Liga.
A number of first team players including Ademola Lookman, Victor Osimhen, and Alhassan Yusuf have pulled out of the friendlies.
The Super Eagles will face Poland on Wednesday, before facing Portugal a week later.
They won the Unity Cup invitational tournament last weekend.
