Tragedy struck in the Imobi community of Ijebu East Local Government Area, Ogun State, on Tuesday, as a farmer was reportedly killed by a wandering elephant believed to have strayed from a nearby government forest reserve.
The state’s Commissioner for Forestry, Taiwo Oludotun, confirmed the incident in a brief statement to our correspondent.
“Yes, we are aware, and we are already on our way to the community,” Oludotun said.
Details surrounding the circumstances of the attack remain unclear as of press time, but officials are said to be heading to the area to assess the situation.
