A man identified as Oluwaseun has been killed by suspected gunmen, believed to be kidnappers, in Upenmen, a community in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Saturday while Oluwaseun was in the company of two other individuals whose identities remain undisclosed.
A source, who preferred to remain anonymous, disclosed that the assailants ambushed the trio. “Oluwaseun attempted to flee but was shot, while the other two were abducted,” the source stated.
The community has reportedly been gripped by fear due to the increasing cases of abduction in the area.
Speaking on the incident, a community leader, Mr. Owadara Lanre, confirmed the attack during a phone interview.
He urged the government and security agencies to intervene and address the security crisis in Upenmen.
Attempts to reach the community’s monarch for comments were unsuccessful, as both his phone lines were unreachable at the time of filing this report.
