By Olusegun Lawrence, Abuja. Senator Godswil Akpabio, representing Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District has resigned is position as Senate Minority Leader.
Akpabio, who is due to formally defect from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, stated this is a letter addressed to the Deputy Minority Leader, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha.
He said the resignation is effective from August 4, 2018.
He thanked the senate leadership especially the opposition party for the opportunity to serve as Minority Leader in the last three years.
Prompt News Online reports that Senator Akpabio recently indicated interest to dump the PDP for APC.
He has visited President Muhammadu Buhari, who is on a 10-day working vacation to the United Kingdom.
On Monday, Akpabio also visited APC national leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Abuja.
