Residents of Aujarawar Alkali community in Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State have been thrown into fear following the abduction of the village head, Alhaji Ahmad Yakubu Ahmad, popularly known as Ruwata Midnight.
The traditional ruler was reportedly kidnapped during a late night attack on Thursday, September 17, 2026, when armed bandits invaded the community and whisked him away to an undisclosed location.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers, who were reportedly armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed the community before taking away the monarch.
The incident was confirmed on Friday by Mahi Ismail, spokesperson to the Zannan Kano and the District Head of Jogana, who described the development as a serious threat to the peace and security of the area.
The abduction has heightened anxiety among residents, with families and community leaders expressing concern over the whereabouts and safety of the village head.
Reacting to the incident, the District Head of Jogana, Alhaji Abdulkadir Ma’aji, called on security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the traditional ruler and strengthen security in vulnerable rural communities.
Ma’aji said, “We appeal to security operatives to strengthen the protection of lives and property and do everything possible to ensure the safe return of our village head.”
He also urged residents to remain calm and law abiding, while calling for greater vigilance and cooperation with security agencies to help prevent further attacks.
The district head appealed to members of the public to pray for the safe release of Ahmad, expressing hope that the abducted monarch would soon return to his family and the people of Aujarawar Alkali.

As of Friday, the Kano State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the reported abduction.
