Nigerian comedian and actor Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has addressed the controversy surrounding his absence from the AY Live Cardiff concert in the United Kingdom.
The comedian was scheduled to perform at the event on Sunday but did not appear before the audience as expected, prompting disappointment and criticism from some attendees on social media.
AY has now explained what happened, saying he and other comedians had travelled to Cardiff for the show but encountered an unresolved payment issue that prevented them from gaining access to the venue on time.
According to him, although they eventually made it into the venue, most of the audience had already left by the time they arrived at the hall.
In a statement shared alongside a video explaining the situation, AY apologised to those who bought tickets and attended the show, saying their support deserved to be respected.
Prompt News reports he also called on the event organisers and the UK tour management to provide ticket holders with clear information on refunds and the next steps.

“A STATEMENT ON AY LIVE CARDIFF
To everyone who bought tickets and came out to see us in Cardiff, I sincerely apologise for the disappointment you experienced. Your time, money and support deserve respect.
My fellow comedians and I travelled to Cardiff to perform and eventually entered the venue. Unfortunately, unresolved payment commitments delayed our appearance, and by the time we arrived at the hall, most of the audience had left.
You deserved a properly organised show and timely information. You should never have been caught in the middle of a payment dispute.
In this video, I explain the circumstances directly. I respectfully ask that you listen to the full account before concluding.
I am calling on the organisers and our UK tour management to provide a clear resolution for ticket holders, including refund information. Verified updates will be shared through my official channels.
