Super Eagles duo Taiwo Awoniyi and Frank Onyeka will aim for a positive start when Coventry City take on Arsenal in the opening fixture of the 2026/27 season at the Emirates Stadium on Friday night, Prompt News Online reports.
It will be Coventry City’s first top flight game for the first time since the 2000–01 season.
Onyeka played a pivotal role in Frank Lampard’s side promotion from the Sky Bet Championship last season.
The defensive midfielder arrived the CBS Arena on loan from Brentford in January, and quickly established himself as a key player for the club.
The 28-year-old registered one goal in 14 league appearances for the Sky Blues.
His compatriot, Awoniyi linked up with Coventry City from Nottingham Forest this week.
Awoniyi, who spent four years with Forest is one of the highly rated forwards in the Premier League.
The 29-year-old will hope to get more playing time at Coventry after playing a bit part role at Forest in the last two seasons.
