The United Nations Refugee Agency (UNCHR) has claimed that over 28.8 million people are forced displaced globally, raising fear of astronomical increase in the number of refugees globally. A report released on Wednesday by the Agency, says that more people are refugees or internally displaced than at any time since 1994, with the crisis in Syria having emerged as a major new factor in global displacement.  UNHCR’s annual Global Trends report covers displacement that occurred during 2012 based on data from governments, NGO partners, and UNHCR itself. The President spoke at separate audiences with the new ambassadors of Israel, Russia, Greece, Senegal and Algeria who presented their letters of credence to him at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) on Tuesday said over 3,000 Nigerian refuges have arrived Cameroon. Briefing newsmen in Geneva on Tuesday, UNHCR spokesman, Adrian Edwards said another 2,692 Nigerian refugees are in Niger republic following continued clash between the Islamist insurgents, Boko Haram and troops of the Special Forces.  President Jonathan had in May declared a state of emergency on three northern states of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa to contain the activities of the Islamist insurgents.
