Atalanta will delay Ademola Lookman’s departure for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Prompt News reports.
Lookman was named in Nigeria’s 55-man preliminary squad by head coach Eric Chelle on Tuesday.
Barring any unforeseen circumstances, Lookman is expected to make the final 28-man squad for the competition.
The Super Eagles will open campaign for AFCON 2025 in Cairo, Egypt on December 10.
The players are expected to be in camp the following day.
Atalanta will only release Lookman after their Serie A clash with Cagliari on December 13, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Lookman is expected to play a key role for the Super Eagles in Morocco.
The 28-year-old scored three goals and registered one assist in seven outings at the AFCON 2023, with the Super Eagles finishing in second position.
