His Royal Highness, Oba Engineer Adedoyin Adelekun, The Duke, Looja Odo-Iju in Ogbomoso, has reiterated the commitment of the Rotary Club International to sustain and maintain its global standard towards providing humanitarian aid to the communities across the country through the community leaders to improve the living standard of people in the country.
Oba Adelekun made this known at the All Rotary clubs in Ibadan tagged “Image-ING Rotary” Projects and Press conference, held at the Rotary Club House, Iyaganku, Ibadan.
He observed that since the inception of Rotary Club in Nigeria in 1961, the club as a non-profit organization has helped people to integrate their visions and goals in solving societal challenges, adding that these thrives will continue to contribute to the leadership development in our communities.
The monarch who is also the special Guest of honour however, urged members of the Rotary Club to work hard in ensuring that members of the public are educated, enlightened and informed about the club by carrying out public awareness and sensitisation so that people could understand the roles of the club to the community.
Earlier, The Public Image chairman, and a member of the organizing committee, Rotarian Mr Micheal Ajao said that this year’s event was organised to showcase the Rotary Club’s projects in Oyo state and how they have been touching the lives of less privileged people positively in the communities.
He added that members of the Club will keep uplifting the aims and objectives of the Rotary Club to better the life of people and provide service to others, promote integrity and advance world understanding, goodwill and peace through the club fellowship business, professionals and community leaders.
Highlights of the event was the showcasing of the Rotary Club participating clubs projects in community which is the major focus of Rotary Club International, including medical outreach, donation of relief materials, empowerments of women, provide school kits for students of primary schools pupils and secondary schools students, scholarships, assist and supports people with disability, sinking of boreholes, payment of hospitals bills for pregnant women and among others.
