National leaders of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) are intensifying effort at wooing the aggrieved Peoples Democratic party (PDP) Governors, dubbed G7 into their party as the crisis rocking the ruling party lingers on.
Last week, they were in Sokoto to solidarise with the state Governor, Aliyu Wammakko during the commissioning of the State University. They have also made overtures to the Governors of Kano and Jigawa, Rabiu Kwakwanso and Sule Lamido respectively to join their party.
On Tuesday, APC leaders led by its national Chairman Chief Bisi Akande, stormed Niger state Government House, Minna to again, appeal to Governor Babangida Aliyu to dump the ruling party.
As expected, crowd gathered to listen to the APC delegation and their leader; Bisi akande had this to say, “We are asking through you for the people of Niger state to join the APC in order to change the fortune of the country for the better.”
Akande canvassed for change, contending that it can only be brought about if the ruling party is sent packing as it has failed the people woefully.
Governor Aliyu welcomed the opposition leaders to the state, saying as a sitting PDP Governor, he does not see the opposition parties as enemies.
On their request, he said “the G7 Governors are still consulting and still hope that the internal crisis will be finally resolved.
“I cannot decamp or leave my party; I will wait until the final analysis before I can say what exactly to do. PDP in Niger state is one, and we are committed to remaining as one family. I cannot leave now but I will always stand for what is right”.
Former Head of State, General Muhammad Buhari and former Lagos state governor, Bola Tinubu also noted that the ruling PDP has failed to provide security, quality education and all basic social amenities to the Nigerian people.
With this in mind, they enjoined Governor Aliyu to mobilize his colleagues to mobilize people of like-minds to join the APC so as to move the country forward.
