Ahead of today’s All Progressives Congress [APC] governorship primary election in Edo State, a frontline aspirant, Prince Clem Agba, has received a significant boost as key stakeholders in the party’s national leadership endorsed him for the ticket.
Reports say that the immediate past Minister of State for Budget and National Planning got the endorsement after a thorough assessment of the six aspirants who made the final list of the Julius Ihonvbere Screening Committee.
Sundry sources close to the development hinted that the national leadership of the party, which is desirous of the party fieding a sellable candidate who will easily win the election, ticked all the important boxes in favour of Agba.
The decision to endorse Agba was reached after a crucial closed-door meeting with party leaders, including Chief Bisi Akande, pioneer National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and close ally of President Bola Tinubu.
The development informed the decision by the Presidency to allow the guber primary election to run its course freely and fairly without the interference, teleguiding and manipulation by the state leadership of the party.
The Presidency had on Friday reportedly emphasised a level-play field for the aspirants. READ ALSO:

Recall that the Ihonvbere Comnittee screened 28 aspirants. One aspurant did not appear for screening.
Six aspirants passed the screening, namely: Prince Agba who scored 89 per cent, Hon Dennis Idahosa [87 per cent], David Imuse [86 per cent], Lucky Imasuen [86 per cent], Ernest Umakhihe [84 per cent] and Monday Okpebholo [81 per ent].
Other aspirants had scored below 80 per cent.
