Ondo State Acting Governor, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa has made a passionate appeal to the Federal Government to dualize the ever busy Ore-Ondo-Akure Express road in Ondo State.
Dualizing the road, the Acting Governor said, would be of benefit for residents and users of the road.
Aiyedatiwa made the appeal on Friday while hosting the Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi who was in his office on a courtesy visit.
The Honourable Minister was in the State as part of his ongoing nation-wide assessment of federal roads and projects.
The Acting Governor informed the minister that the State has not really witnessed substantial federal presence over the years, particularly in the areas of infrastructures.
His words, “it may interest you to note that, there are a few federal roads running through the state from north to south and east to west namely (1) Ita Ipele-Idoani-Kabba (2) Oke Oka-Supare (3) Akure -Owo-Ifon-Benin (4) Ore-Okitipupa-Igbokoda (5) Akure-Ondo-Ore (6) Akure-Ikere (7) IgbaraOke-Ibuji-Ondo/Ekiti State boundary” .
“Some of these roads are either deteriorated or left poorly maintained while many have suffered several degradations”.
The Acting Governor disclosed that the State is in dire need of immediate attention of the federal government to ameliorate the sufferings of motorists traversing the roads.
“Specifically, there is the urgent need to upgrade and dualized the Ore-Ondo-Akure road” .
“Similarly, there is the need to rehabilitate the Ore-Okitipupa-Igbokoda axis which has become a death trap and also expedite action on the ongoing Akure-Ikere road” , he appealed.
Aiyedatiwa equally called the attention of the Honourable Minister to the only road linking the south and the north axis of the country, the Ita Ipele-Idoani-Kabba road that needed urgent attention.
He disclosed that Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu-led administration has been creating wonderful opportunities through infrastructures and other key developments which have been attracting investors to the state.
Earlier, the Honourable Minister, Senator Dave Umahi said his decision to visit the State was to see things for himself to enable him have a first hand information.
He said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was very concerned about the completion of projects awarded by the administration of his predecessor.

“We are establishing enduring legacies within the road sector as we want all of us to be part of the supervision while construction job is going”.
“We are introducing concrete tech in our roads development with life span of 50 years compare to asphalt roads”, he disclosed.
The minister further appealed for collaboration with state governments on roads intervention because of the social and economic benefits to the people.
