Super Eagles caretaker coach, Augustine Eguavoen has reflected on the team’s outing against Benin Republic.
Eguavoen’s side held their fellow West Africans to a 1-1 draw in a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matchday five encounter in Abidjan on Thursday night.
The Cheetahs took the lead through Mohammed Tijani after 16 minutes.
Prompt News reports that Victor Osimhen restored parity for Nigeria after the break.
“We wanted to qualify without losing a game,” Eguavoen said in a post-match press briefing
“We tried to win the game, worst case scenario a draw.
“We’re capable of this because we have all the qualities to beat anybody, any day, any time.
“Nigeria are a team well respected, we almost won the AFCON last time.
“So, we had to try and maintain that standard.”
