Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong claimed responsibility for the team’s disappointing defeat against Rwanda.
The West Africans went down to a 2- 1 defeat against the Amavubi at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Monday night.
It was the Super Eagles first loss in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying series.
Troost-Ekong admitted that the Super Eagles were not at their best in the game.
“Yes, you’re right, and I take responsibility,” the centre-back told reporters.
“As captain and the last man at the back, I know we should have done better. But don’t forget, free kicks, like other set-piece situations, can trouble any team, and I think that’s what happened today. So, I take responsibility.”
