Semi Ajayi can’t hide his excitement after helping the Super Eagles beat the Taifa Stars of Tanzania in Fès on Tuesday night, Prompt News reports.
The Super Eagles started their campaign at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the East Africans.
Ajayi scored the game’s curtain raiser from a superb header in the 36th minute.
The 32-year-old has so far scored twice in 47 international appearances for the three-time African champions.
Ajayi said it was an amazing feeling to score for his country.
“It’s always an amazing feeling to score for your country, and in a game like this, to get off to a really good start. I was really, really pleased,” Ajayi told reporters after the game.
“It shows one team can’t only rely on attackers to get goals. We get goals from all over the team, the defenders, the midfielders, everyone needs to chip in if we want to do well in the tournament.”
The West Bromwich Albion defender was named Man of Match after the game.
