By Gracious Akujobi Kano State Government has given full backing and support to the management of Kano Pillars FC under the chairmanship of Abba Yola, commending it for the Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) it signed recently with G-Sports Middle East in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Commissioner of Youth and Sports, Umar Farouk Jibril gave the thumb up in a letter dated 10 January, 2014.The letter reads in parts:
“The signing of the MOU with G-Sports is part of effort to reducing and ultimately removing the financial burden of running the club by the government, which in itself is good for the club, players and management.
“Based on the performance of the club as Champions of the Globacom Nigeria Premier League for the 2011/2012 and 2012/1013 football seasons as well as other impressive national and continental feats over the years, the state government is very confident on the capability and potential of the club to join the league of popular and formidable continental club sides and would therefore continue to support it in any way possible”.
The Sports commissioner further assured that the state government has never at any time contemplated backing out from the partnership agreement and it’s wholly committed to actualizing it, stating that the MOU which covers a period of five years, has the full support, blessing an endorsement of the state government under the leadership of Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso .
