By Harry Awurumibe, Abuja Players and officials of Nigeria’s U 20 women’s football team, Falconets have heaped praises on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF ) for arranging a two weeks training camp in Austria for the FIFA Women’s World Cup – bound team.
The country’s ambassadors who have been perfecting their tactics at a High Performance Center in Austria where the Super Eagles also trained before travelling to Russia for the last FIFA World Cup finals expressed their belief that the close camping has given them the opportunity to put themselves in the competition mood.
Speaking exclusively to Prompt News Online from their Austrian base on Wednesday, some members of the team said they are happy to be part of the delegation out there to prepare properly for the big task in France.
They said they are better positioned now to go to battle with their opponents in France after playing two friendly matches in Austria.
The Falconets argued that it would have been very tough going into the tournament in France if the NFF hierarchy did not plan the Austrian camp for the team to put finishing touches to their preparations, adding that the exposure and experience they got from playing against Austrian top women’s football clubs will help the African representatives to stand toes to toes to their opponents when hostilities start in France this weekend.
Nigeria will open its campaign with a tough first match against Germany on August 6 before tackling Haiti on August 9 and meet China on August 13 in Dinan-Lehon.
The two earlier matches will take place at Stade de Marville in Saint Malo.
