Kogi has progressed to set-up a final clash with Taraba after recovering from a goal deficit to beat Bauchi 2-1 in the semi-final of the YSFON President Unity Cup U-17 Boys Soccer Championship in Lokoja on Saturday.
Bauchi secured an early lead via set-pieces but Kogi showed its desperation to win the tournament with a reply before the stroke of half time.
Kogi resumed the second half with huge hopes but disappointment almost wreck the nerves of its supporters following barrage of half chances left unconverted in front of goal.
However, the moment arrived when Demola curved in a free-kick from 25 yards out in the 83rd minutes to provide the much awaited winner in the second half to ensure the hosts, Kogi at the end of regulation time advanced to the final.
The age-grade football tournament which is its 10th edition is hosted and sponsored by Kogi State and governor, Captain Idris Wada respectively.
Kogi who are with ambition to host and win will lock horns with group stage prey, Taraba in the finals billed for Monday, 23rd December, 2013.
It would be recalled that Kogi earlier defeated finalists, Taraba 2-0 in the preliminary stage courtesy of highest goals scorer hopeful, Alhassan.
In a related development, the finals billed for Sunday, 22nd December has been rescheduled for Monday owing to intended presence of the kogi state governor, Captain Idris Wada.
Speaking for the organizers, the Vice President of Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria, (YSFON), Mustapha Allah-Dey confirmed that the likely absence of the state governor who is the sole sponsor of this year’s edition on Sunday has instigated the shift.
He explained that owing to very-tight schedules of the governor at the weekend, adding that his presence at the final on Monday has been confirmed.
Hosts and sponsor, Governor Idris Ichalla Wada is now expected in attendance for grand finale on Monday by 3:30pm at the Kogi Confluence stadium, Lokoja.
