ABUJA – It was commendation galore from the government and people of Nigeria to the victorious members of the senior women’s basketball team, D’ Tigresses for winning the Afrobasketball Championship in Mali.
The team which returned to the country on Monday are to be hosted by President Muhammadu Buhari and the Federal Executive Council members on Wednesday at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.
Speaking at the official reception of the team at Abuja National Stadium Media Center, Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung who was the Chief Host commended the players, coaches and other backroom staff as well as the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) for the Victory in Mali.
He also challenged other national Sports Federations to emulate the NBBF.
Also speaking at the occasion, President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), Engr. Habu Gumel charged the team work harder to be in the next Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan in 2020.
In his short remarks, NBBF President, Ahmed Musa Kida praised D’ Tigress for their achievements and thanked the Sports Minister for giving his Federation the opportunity to serve the nation.
Responding, Team Captain, Aisha Mohammed thanked all that supported the team to excel in Mali.
