The Bureau of the FIFA Council has approved the appointment of a Normalisation Committee to oversee the affairs of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) pending fresh elections into the federation’s Executive Committee.
In a letter signed by FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström and addressed to Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme, MON, FIFA stated that the committee would comprise a suitable number of members to be jointly appointed by FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as soon as possible.
According to the letter, the committee’s mandate will end upon the completion of its assigned tasks, but no later than May 31, 2027.
FIFA also clarified that members of the Normalisation Committee will not be eligible to contest any of the positions to be filled during the forthcoming NFF elections.
In the interim, the NFF Secretariat will continue to handle the federation’s day-to-day operations and oversee the administration of football in Nigeria until the Normalisation Committee is formally appointed.
