Nollywood actress and filmmaker Mercy Johnson-Okojie has criticised Power Oil over the continued use of her image in the company’s promotional materials, years after the expiration of her ambassadorial contract.
The actress, who is also an influencer and entrepreneur, raised the issue on social media, claiming that she had neither been paid nor compensated for the continued use of her image after her deal with the brand ended.
Mercy questioned why the company was still running advertisements featuring her without seeking permission from her or consulting her team.
“Help me ask @poweroilng why? it has been years, I have not been paid or compensated for my image been used after the expiration of my contract. You are still pushing ads with my image on it without consulting me. Why? Please check your dm and revert to my team. let us not play with dirty waters.
Enough is Enough.”
In another post, the actress questioned whether the company would use a similar approach with an Indian entertainer, asking why her image was allegedly being used without permission.
“ @poweroilng , can you try this in India? Can you do this to an Indian artist? Using their image without permission? Why? I ask again?
Please everyone, anywhere you see @poweroilng ads , or billboards or anything with my face on it. Help me do and video and share saying date and time. Please.”
