The Gombe State Police Command has arrested two suspects over the alleged armed robbery and killing of the wife of a serving police officer at Wuro Shie Quarters, Gombe.
The suspects, identified as 20-year-old Muhammad Bashir Sale, alias “Full,” and 18-year-old Musa Sale Ahmad, alias “Abba,” were arrested on Saturday, September 26, 2026, shortly after the incident.
The command disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi.
According to the statement, the incident occurred around 4:35 am on September 26 when unidentified assailants armed with machetes and cutlasses invaded the residence of Inspector Salisu Waziri, who is attached to the Safer Highway Patrol.
The assailants reportedly attempted to rob Waziri’s wife, Mrs Aishatu Salisu, of her mobile phone.
The police said the victim raised the alarm during the attack, prompting one of the assailants to stab her with a machete before fleeing the scene and leaving the handset behind.
“Upon receipt of the report, the Pantami Divisional Patrol Team immediately mobilised to the scene and rushed the victim to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, where she was unfortunately certified dead,” the statement said.
The command said the two suspects, both residents of Wuro Shie Quarters, were subsequently arrested in connection with the incident.
“During preliminary investigation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime. One sharp knife was also recovered as an exhibit,” the statement added.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Gombe, for further investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, ordered a discreet and thorough investigation, directing that anyone found culpable should be brought to justice.

The command also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious persons, movements and activities to the nearest police formation, assuring the public of its commitment to protecting lives and property.
