A 23-year-old student of the Nigerian Law School, Lagos Campus, Faith Alayande, has died in an incident being investigated by the Lagos State Police Command.
The deceased was reportedly found unresponsive within the school’s hostel premises in the Victoria Island area of the state on Friday.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the incident, saying the matter was reported by the hostel matron, after which police operatives visited the scene.
Adebisi said the circumstances surrounding the student’s death were being investigated, adding that her remains had been evacuated to a morgue for preservation.
“I can confirm the incident. The deceased was reportedly found unresponsive within the hostel premises. The matron reported the matter, prompting police operatives to visit the scene.
“Her body has been evacuated to a morgue for preservation,” the police spokesperson said.
A security analyst, Zagazola Makama, who also reported the incident, said the student was discovered at the hostel on Friday morning, after which the matter was brought to the attention of the institution’s authorities.
According to him, the Chief Matron of the Law School, Juliana Igbokwe, reported the incident at the Victoria Island Police Division at about 6:30am.
The police said an investigation had commenced to establish the circumstances surrounding the student’s death.
The incident comes months after another Nigerian Law School student was reportedly found dead in a separate incident.
In December 2025, PUNCH Metro reported the death of a student of the Nigerian Law School’s Yola Campus, Adamawa State, amid concerns surrounding his eligibility to participate in the Bar Final examinations.
