Nigerian disc jockey and entrepreneur Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, has revealed that she receives marriage proposals every day, even from people outside her fan base.
The entertainer made the disclosure during an interview with Marie Claire, where she spoke about her education, career, philanthropy and the constant questions she receives about settling down.
Cuppy, who has earned degrees from New York University, the University of Oxford and King’s College London, said she often jokes that pursuing more academic qualifications has become her way of avoiding conversations about marriage.
“I call it avoidance of marriage.
“Every time my grandma asks, ‘Where’s your husband?’, I show her a new certificate,” she said.
Despite the frequent questions about her relationship status, the music star insisted she has no shortage of admirers.
“I get marriage proposals every day. And I’m not even talking about fans.
“Everyone is apparently trying to help me when I have not asked to be helped,” she said.

Beyond music, Cuppy explained that her passion for education comes from a desire to gain a deeper understanding of the industries she is involved in rather than simply being a participant.
“With entertainment, I have never just wanted to participate.
“I want to understand who controls what and learn as much about their processes as possible,” she said.
Her academic journey has taken her through some of the world’s leading institutions, including New York University, the University of Oxford and King’s College London, with plans to pursue another qualification.
Prompt News reports Cuppy also reflected on her relationship with her father, billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, recalling a recent moment that made her proud.
According to her, her father told her that someone approached him at an airport asking for a photograph after recognising him as “Cuppy’s dad.”
“Recently, my dad told me that someone stopped him at the airport to take a picture because they recognised him as ‘Cuppy’s dad’,” she said.
She admitted the experience was special because she is more commonly identified as Femi Otedola’s daughter.
“It made me feel good because normally, I’m Femi’s daughter, but on that day, to that person, he was my dad.”
The entertainer also discussed her philanthropic work, distinguishing between charity and philanthropy.
According to her, charity is simply giving to others, while philanthropy is about creating lasting change.
“Charity is just giving because you want to.
“Being a philanthropist, though, is about making a lasting difference. It’s about long-lasting results,” she explained.
For now, whenever the topic of marriage comes up, Cuppy appears content with her light-hearted response.
“I call it avoidance of marriage,” she said.
