Nollywood actress Bukky Wright has weighed in on the debate surrounding women being labelled as gold diggers, insisting that men should only pursue relationships they can comfortably sustain.
During a recent interview, the screen veteran said financial responsibility remains an important part of a man’s role in a relationship, adding that women should never feel pressured to lower their expectations because of criticism.
She maintained that a man should take pride in caring for the woman he loves and advised those who are not financially ready to either date within their means or postpone relationships until they are better prepared.
Prompt News reports Bukky stressed that she would never encourage women to settle for less than they deserve, dismissing the popular “gold digger” narrative.
“I hate it when I hear men calling women gold diggers. What do you expect her to dig? I won’t advise any woman to dig anything less than gold. If you can not afford a woman, don’t go for it; go for the one you can afford,” she said.
