Arthur Okonkwo has been officially cleared by FIFA to represent Nigeria, Prompt News reports.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper, born in London to Nigerian parents, previously featured for England at youth level , but is now eligible to play for the Super Eagles after receiving approval on Monday.

Okonkwo, who currently plays for Wrexham, is available for selection from the next international window.

He could be included in Nigeria’s squad for the Unity Cup in May, where the defending champions will compete alongside confirmed participants Iran and Jamaica.

Head coach Éric Chelle is expected to use the tournament to assess several fringe players.

Nigeria will also face Poland and Portugal in friendly matches scheduled for June.

Okonkwo began his career at Arsenal and had loan spells at Crewe Alexandra, Sturm Graz, and Wrexham before making a permanent move to the Welsh club in 2024.

Since then, he has developed into one of the standout goalkeepers in the Sky Bet Championship.
