Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has dismissed six political appointees and approved the suspension of the Chairman of the State House of Assembly Service Commission, Johnbull Shekarau.
Among those relieved of their duties is the Special Adviser on Strategic Communications, Timothy Golu.
The decisions were disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Secretary to the State Government, Samuel Jatau, who said the move was part of efforts to reposition the administration for optimal performance.
According to the statement, the action is aimed at enhancing efficiency, strengthening service delivery and ensuring alignment with the government’s policy direction.
Other affected officials include Gwottson Fom, Liaison Officer for Jos South; Nambol Rimvyat and Nannim Langyi, both from Langtang North; Paul Datugum from Qua’an Pan North; and Rimchak Rims from Langtang South.
The government also announced the suspension of Shekarau over alleged conduct deemed inconsistent with the standards and administrative procedures expected of his office, noting that the matter is currently under review.
The statement directed all affected officials to immediately hand over government property and documents in their possession to the appropriate authorities, while appreciating their contributions to the administration and wishing them well in their future pursuits.
The development comes hours after a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, conducted a parallel congress in Jos, where Peter Tongshep emerged as state chairman alongside other executives.
