The Iranian Football Federation are in talks with their Nigerian counterpart for a friendly, Prompt News reports.
The friendly, which will serve as part of Team Melli’s preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup will hold in March.
“The Football Federation of Iran is expected to officially announce Team Melli’s friendly match schedule as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup,” the Tehran Times wrote.
“The Federation has been in negotiations with the football federations of Costa Rica and Nigeria to arrange two warm-up matches in March.”
For Nigeria, however, any March engagement remains subject to FIFA’s impending ruling on the country’s eligibility protest against Democratic Republic of Congo.
Iran have already been drawn into into Group G, where they will face Belgium, Egypt, and New Zealand.
